Tracking culture & grift in podcasting
I’ve listened to podcasts for 14 full years. Now, though, with the proliferation of bland corporate “newsletters” uncritically reiterating press releases from corporate podcasters, the time is right to publish the truth about culture & grift in podcasting.
Podcasting is thriving and doomed all at once
It seems contradictory on its face, but the demimonde of podcasting is in simultaneous boom and bust. There are tons of podcasts, and some of them even make money, and a tiny few of them are advancing culture, but podcasting is also being slowly genocided by corporate and advertising interests and the endless thirst for censorship that Silicon Valley progressives deny to your face they really have.
That’s why this project carries the title Podcasting Had a Good Run. The field is expanding and contracting at the same time. And nobody else is telling you the truth about it.

There are no hard-and-fast “community guidelines” (a Trust & Safety Dept. under another guise).
